The Empress is the card of creation, abundance, and the kind of love that grows things. She rules over what is fertile in your life: projects, relationships, ideas, gardens. She is what happens when you tend to something with both warmth and patience.

Drawing The Empress often signals a season of plenty. Something you've been nurturing is ready to bear fruit, whether that's literal or metaphorical. She asks you to enjoy what you've made, and to keep tending the soil.

Reversed, The Empress can indicate creative blocks, dependence, or smothering: too much care, or care directed at the wrong thing. You might be pouring your energy into something that isn't ready to grow, or into someone who isn't asking for it.

It can also point to neglecting yourself. The Empress reversed asks: who is tending to you the way you tend to everyone else? Sometimes the answer needs to be: you.
