The Eight of Cups is the card of walking away from what no longer fits. A figure turns from eight stacked cups and heads off into the night, not from failure, but because something deeper is calling. The Eight is the dignified exit.

Drawing this card often means a chapter is ending of your own choosing. A job, a relationship, a city, a version of yourself. The walking away is the right move, even if it doesn't feel triumphant.
Reversed

- Fear of change

Reversed, the Eight of Cups is hesitation at the threshold. You know you need to leave; you haven't left. The card asks what's keeping you in the room, and whether the reason is still worth staying for.
It can also mean returning to something you tried to leave. The Eight reversed isn't judging. It's asking you to be honest about whether the return is alignment or avoidance.
